Is anyone aware of any issues with setting the uid bit on ps? It has been proposed that a new group be created and only members of this group will be able to run the ps -ef command to see all system processes. All others not belonging to the group will be able to see their processes only. The purpose of this exercise is to prevent folks from looking at the username/password for database logins with a ps -ef command. On hp systems, we use glance and top. We also use vmstat and sar. Does chaging the permissions on ps affect the functionality of anything else?
Thanks
