You have to increase your preallocated mbuf for receiving packets.

# smit
Devices
Communication

Adapter
Change / Show Characteristics of an Ethernet Adapter

increase the "RECEIVE buffer pool size", the maximum is 2K

: Thks for your reply.

: I found the socket buffer overflows to be 0.

: But found "21385 dropped due to no socket".

: Isn't this unusual? How can we resolve the problem?

:
: : You might be running out of network buffers.

: : run netstat -s

: : and look for socket buffer overflows.

: : I've have seen this on HP machines and was traced to auto negotiation setting
: : on the switch.

: : : Hi,

: : : I have a ftp problem on one of my IBM H50 servers. When we try to ftp a file from the H50 server to another server, it takes a very long time.

: : : However, when we ftp the file to a third server and then into the second server, it is much faster!

: : : Thinking it to be a network problem, we did an ftp from the first server to the third server and there was no problem (all the servers are sitting on the same network segment).

: : : Are there any settings that needs to be done?

: : : Wld appreciate any help!
